Chardonnay Pearls® Deutzia (Deutzia gracilis)

Chardonnay Pearls® Deutzia (Deutzia gracilis)

Chardonnay Pearls® Deutzia is more than just a spring bloomer—it’s a multi-season standout. In early spring, it sets the stage with clusters of pearl-like buds that open into delicate, star-shaped white flowers, creating a soft, elegant display. But the real surprise comes after flowering, when the show continues with vibrant chartreuse-yellow foliage that brightens the landscape all the way to frost.

Compact yet vigorous, Chardonnay Pearls® fits beautifully into shrub borders, perennial gardens, or mass plantings. It also makes a striking choice for slopes or ground cover, adding brightness and texture wherever it’s planted.

  • 1.5-3 feet tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 5-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 1.5-3 feet apart for best results
  • Produces masses of white flowers throughout spring that start out as white pearl buds and burst into gorgeous star-shaped blooms
  • Maintains tidy, lime green foliage from spring to frost
  • Blooms on old wood
  • Great for borders, edges, groundcover, landscapes and mass plantings
  • Resists deer and rabbits
  • Drought tolerant, compact habit

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Pruning is seldom needed but may be shaped immediately after flowering.
