Pink Pony™ Elderberry (Sambucus nigra) | Proven Winners® New Variety 2027
Pink Pony™ elderberry stands out with pale purple-pink flowers that resist fading and bloom for an impressively long time. Their brightness plays beautifully against the plant’s consistently dark, bluish-black foliage for a striking garden display. In late summer and fall, the blooms transition to deep red fruit when paired with compatible pollinators such as Instant Karma®, Black Lace®, or Laced Up® elderberry.
- 6-10 feet tall and wide at maturity
- Hardy in zones 4-7, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
- Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
- Space plants 6-10 feet apart for best results
- Produces pale purple-pink flowers during summer
- Maintains blue-black foliage from spring to frost
- Blooms on old wood
- Great for foundation plantings, mass plantings, landscapes, screening, focal points, woodland gardens
- Attracts bees and butterflies while resisting deer and rabbits
- Clay tolerant, drought tolerant, foliage interest, produces edible berries
